A restructured checkout, plus clearer help when a payment fails
The checkout now takes payment one step at a time to conform with Square's updated payment compliance policies, and shoppers get the specific reason and a next step when a payment fails.
v2.0.53 restructures the shopper checkout to conform with Square's updated payment compliance policies and gives shoppers more information, and more ways to fix the problem, when a checkout fails.
What changed
The checkout takes payment one step at a time
To conform with Square's updated payment compliance policies, the checkout is now split into payment steps shown in a strip across the top. One card entry pays every farm in the cart, except a farm with a CSA subscription which requires the shopper to reenter their credit card information, for compliance reasons. Each step's Pay button shows exactly what that click charges, and each farm is ticked off as it is paid.
More information and actions when checkout fails
When a card is refused, shoppers now see the specific reason, such as a postal code that doesn't match the billing address, instead of a general "declined" message. The payment-failed dialog shows the same reason as the checkout page.
