v2.0 introduces a deposit reservation workflow — the initial release, designed to reduce the stress of managing seasonal pre-orders like Thanksgiving turkeys.
A farmer creates a deposit reservation in a step-by-step dialog: price option, amount, quantity, and the available date when the product becomes orderable. Until that date, the storefront shows only the deposit price, and shoppers reserve the product by paying the deposit. Four days before the available date, the farmer is reminded by email to update the final price options and names (for example, "1/2 turkey" and "3/4 turkey" with their final prices). After the available date, the storefront shows the regular prices; the deposit is applied automatically as credit at checkout, and the discount appears on the Square sale.

A step-by-step dialog walks the farmer through choosing a price option, naming the deposit, setting the amount and quantity, and picking the available date when the product becomes orderable.
Shoppers place a deposit during the deposit period
Until the available date, the storefront shows only the deposit price option. Shoppers reserve the product by paying the deposit.
Farmer reminder before the fulfillment date
Four days before the available date, the farmer receives an email reminder to update the product's price options and names — for example, "1/2 turkey" and "3/4 turkey" with the matching final prices.
Deposit auto-applied at checkout
After the available date, the storefront shows the regular price options. When a shopper places their final order, the deposit is applied automatically as credit at checkout. The discount appears on the Square sale.
