Given the constantly changing availability of farm produce, small farm e-commerce software should offer a comprehensive set of tools that easily notify shoppers when products are available, along with listings for new arrivals and restocks.

The Product Awareness Initiative aims to tackle this challenge by equipping small farmers with powerful technology that intuitively alerts shoppers whenever their favorite products are back in stock, showcases new offerings, and shares information about discounts.

The first component of this initiative is the Product Reminder feature, which was released in June 2025.

Using an adaptive algorithm, this feature automatically identifies which products are eligible for reminders based on the following criteria:

  • Products that have been previously ordered but are currently unavailable.
  • Products that are available but have sold out.

Products eligible for reminders can be found in the Product Reminder tab on the farmer's e-commerce site.

When a product becomes available, the farmer receives a summary of all customers who will be sent a reminder email. The system then sends out a message to each shopper on the list approximately 6 to 12 hours after the product is available on the e-commerce website.

In summary, Tangaza.io employs straightforward approaches to determine which products can have reminders without the farmer having to remember to do it. Shoppers can easily set up a reminder within a few minutes. When a product is marked as available and a quantity is ready for purchase, Tangaza.io sends the farmer an email with a summary of the customers who will receive the reminder. Subsequently, the system emails all customers on the list to inform them that their favorite produce is now available for purchase.
